One of the largest spending bills in American history was signed into law last week by President Joe Biden. It's called the American Rescue Plan, and its $1.9 trillion will go towards helping schools, small businesses, vaccine efforts, and low-income families.

You may know this coronavirus relief package more for the $1,400 checks being distributed to Americans who earn $75,000 a year or less, or couples making up to $150,000 per year. The money may already be in your bank account, or its coming to you via mail or deposit soon.

On today's The Sound of Ideas, we wanted to break down what this package does for everyday Ohioans, and why many observers are saying this bill could reduce child poverty by almost half.

Here to discuss the relief plan, is John Corlett, President & Executive Director for The Center for Community Solutions.

Later this hour, we'll meet two local women, who call themselves the Vaccine Queens, who have teamed up to do superhero work of the pandemic and schedule people for their vaccine shots.

And then, we'll bring you an interview with local writer Laura Maylene Walter who just came out with her debut novel, "Body of Stars."
