Efforts To Restore Civility In Public Discourse

Have we lost the ability to respectfully disagree? Check out Facebook or your Twitter feed, or read the comments on a news story concerning just about anything, and you can safely answer yes. So how did we get here and how can we get civility back? There are efforts underway on campuses, in communities and in the halls of government to foster civility and it starts with respect. We will learn about the work of the National Institute for Civil Discourse and its Restore Civility Initative.   And we'll discuss a new effort in Akron to help culitivate a return to civility not only in the political arena but in places of worship, schools, and at the University of Akron.
