Clark-Fulton is one Cleveland neighborhood targeted for revitalization and investment

Cleveland's Clark-Fulton neighborhood

The story of Cleveland's Clark-Fulton neighborhood, on the city's near-west side, is like that of so many in Northeast Ohio.

it saw a boom in population in the early part of the 20th century, mostly because of it's proximity to Cleveland's steel and manufacturing plants.

This was followed by decades of decline and population loss, as jobs and residents fled to the suburbs.

Now, the Clark Fulton neighborhood, and the areas around it like Brooklyn Center, and the Stockyards - is being targeted for major reinvestments.

Not only is the neighborhood one of 4 targeted by the City of Cleveland's 'Neighborhood Transformation Initiative', but it's also undergoing a master plan to coordinate development.

The last decade has seen The MetroHealth system, anchored in the community, grow and invest millions of dollars in the neighborhood.

The Greater Cleveland RTA wants to ensure that the West 25th street corridor is best serving the residents of the area, and will continue to reshape the roadways there.

But like other neighborhoods in Cleveland that have seen investment - think Ohio City or Tremont just to the North of Clark-Fulton, there needs care and consideration for it's current residents.

For the majority of the program today, we're going to talk about the future of Clark-Fulton.

We'll look at what projects are currently underway for the neighboor, how major investments could reshape the are, and how the interests of residents are honored moving forward.

Stick around, as later in the hour we'll hear from Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, and some excerpts from his final State of the City address that was delivered last week.

- Ricardo Leon, Executive Director, MetroWest Community Development Organization
- India Birdsong, General Manager and CEO, Regional Transit Authority
- Greg Zucca, Director of Economic and Community Transformation, MetroHealth Medical Center
- Frank Jackson, Mayor, City of Cleveland
