After weeks of speculation, presumptive Democratic nominee for President Joe Biden has named Senator Kamala Karris of California to be his running mate. Harris makes history for being the first Black and South Asian American woman to be on a presidential ticket. She's only the third woman to be nominated as a vice presidential candidate for a major party's ticket.

Biden and Harris are scheduled to hold their first official event together later today, in Wilmington, Delaware. On The Sound of Ideas, we'll start by hearing some analysis of the Biden-Harris ticket from Political Scientist Dr. Tom Sutton of Baldwin-Wallace University. Then, we'll talk about concerns that there will be an undercount in the census this year with experts and Ohio census workers. And, we'll debrief yesterday's coronavirus press conference from Governor Mike DeWine, which focused on back to school safety with Ohio Public Radio Statehouse News Bureau Chief Karen Kasler.
