Nora, Ella Canavan Elementary School in Medina: Imagine you had a normal start to the school year then.... BOOM. Everything changed, you couldn't go to school, you don't see your friends or family as much as usual. I had to get used to staying home more and to get along with my brother. But I didn't let this get me down. I believed that we could get through this.
Kaitlyn, Crestview Elementary in Brunswick: The 2019-2020 school year started off as a normal school year just like any other! It was going great! Then in March, we were told to bring more things than normal home, and the next day, we were off school for 3 weeks. As a 5th grade student, this broke my heart that my last year of elementary school is cut short. Soon after 3 weeks was over, we were told no school for another month. Once the month passed by, we told no school for the rest of the year! This is when we were really sad! Living in this Covid-19 pandemic as a kid has been a very difficult time and adapting to a new normal was hard at first but we got used to it!
Desmond, Central Intermediate School in Wadsworth: This is a situation that none of us have ever experienced before. A pandemic occurred in 1918, the Spanish Flu. No one in my family, not even my great-grandparents, have experienced a pandemic. The 2020 coronavirus catastrophe was a time of panic for the world. People were forced into quarantine, meaning that they had to stay at home, and wear masks. But we managed to survive it.
Jane, Kensington Elementary in Rocky River: At the beginning of the school year I thought it was going to be a normal school year. We did Halloween normal, and we had Thanksgiving break normal, we also had Christmas break normal. But when I heard about school being canceled for 3 weeks that changed the whole school year. The 3 weeks turned into 4 weeks And then the 4 weeks turned into 6 weeks and then the 6 weeks turned into the whole school year. It's not that bad but I would rather be in school.
Carter, Greentown Intermediate School in North Canton: I would tell future students that this was an interesting experience for me. I was sad that I couldn't see my teachers and friends face-to-face anymore but I liked the fact that I could have a more flexible school schedule. I missed being able to play outside with my friends and neighbors. I have enjoyed spending time with my family.
