Kent State Unveils National Historic Landmark Plaque for May 4 Shootings Site

It's been 48 years since four Kent State University students were gunned down by Ohio National Guardsmen on the school's campus.

The guardsmen fired on students protesting the US invasion of Cambodia.

On Friday, the 48th anniversary of the May 4 Shootings, the university unveiled the plaque that designates the site as a National Historic Landmark.

The National Park Service desginated the site as a National Historic Landmark in 2016.

The site of the shootings was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.
