Youngstown area Congressman Tim Ryan took aim at General Motors during the Democratic debate in Miami last night. Ryan was given the first answer on a question regarding manufacturing jobs coming back to Ohio and lamented the tax cut given to the auto giant before idling the Lordstown plant. Ryan later added that of the 30 million electric vehicles made in the next 10 years, half should be in the U.S. and that green technology is the future. Ryan also sparred with Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard over involvement in Afghanistan, saying he's learned in his 17 years in Congress that it's important to stay engaged in conflicts abroad.

Multiple media outlets are reporting an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper's car was hit by a wrong way driver early this morning, causing a closure on 71 in both directions near the Richland-Morrow county line. The southbound lanes have since been reopened. Ohio Going Blue posted on their Facebook page that thoughts and prayers are needed for the trooper, but there's no update on their condition.

Investigators in Mansfield are offering a $5,000 reward for information on a suspected arson that spread to another home and killed a 3-year-old girl. Seven other people escaped the home. Authorities say witnesses reported seeing some juveniles around the vacant house before the fire started.

The Ohio State Board of Education is expanding its social-emotional learning standards to include all students. Department of Education implemented standards for children in kindergarten through third grade starting in 2012, to build skills in five areas, including self-awareness and decision making. The  new standards now include all students, through 12th grade.

The Indians beat Kansas City 5-3 to improve their record to 44-36 heading into an off day today, but there's still a potential victory this afternoon. First basemen Carlos Santana could be voted in as an All-Star starter for the July 9th game in Cleveland.  You can vote at mlb.com until 4. p.m today. The Indians open a weekend series in Baltimore tomorrow.
