Good morning and welcome to a new work week - on this Feb. 4th, 2019.

Cleveland Lead Advocates for Safe Housing say they're launching a petition drive to put a lead safe housing ordinance on the ballot in Cleveland for the November 2019 general election.  A press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday morning at 3500 Lorain Ave. Advocates were unhappy that the city's plan, unveiled two weeks ago, did not contain specific dates or dollar amounts. A Case Western Reserve University study found 25 percent of Cleveland public school kindergartners had elevated lead levels.

A man suspected of killing his parents in Virginia was arrested in Avon Saturday night. Police say they arrested 53-year-old Robert Raff after receiving a call about a car with no lights or license plate and a missing tire on State Route 83. WWBT TV reports Raff, whose real name is Robert Ralph, is accused of killing Jan and Victoria Ralph in Chesterfield Virginia. Ralph remains in custody in Lorain County

The date for a trial in the lawsuit brought by some local governments against the drug industry over the destruction wrought by prescription opioid painkillers has been pushed back again. Federal judge Dan Polster has set the trial date for Oct. 21. The cities of Cleveland and Akron and Cuyahoga and Summit counties claim that drug companies knew about problems surrounding opioid addiction but took no meaningful steps to help.

Court records show a man accused of fatally shooting a sheriff's deputy and wounding another deputy during a 12-hour standoff in Southern Ohio is set for a court hearing today. 23-year-old Wade Edward Winn is charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder in the weekend shooting of Detective Bill Brewer. Governor Mike DeWine has ordered all U.S. and state flags at public buildings in Clermont County and the Statehouse flown at half-staff.

Former Browns and St. Ignatius star quarterback Brian Hoyer has claimed his first Super Bowl ring as the top backup to Tom Brady. It was Hoyer's third Super Bowl with the Patriots but his first victory after he was traded back to New England last season. Hoyer becomes the first Ignatius grad to win the Lombardi Trophy. Former Kent State star and Pats receiver Julian Edelman was voted Most Valuable player in New England's 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams

The Cavaliers have reportedly agreed to trade shooting guard Rodney Hood to Portland for former Michigan star Nick Stauskas, guard Wade Baldwin and two second round draft picks. Hood confiirmed the move on Twitter. Cleveland is expected to consider trading more veteran players before the NBA trade deadline this Thursday. The Cavs host Boston tomorrow night.
