Police and fire departments from Rocky River and surrounding cities responded Sunday evening to a large fire that closed both lanes of I-90 and Hilliard Boulevard.
East and westbound traffic on I-90 and Hilliard Boulevard between Lakewood and Westlake is shut down. A Rocky River police dispatcher said I-90 should open before 8:00, although that's not guaranteed. Hilliard might be closed for hours.
Dispatchers confirmed reports that the fire started in an apartment complex that is currently under construction. They said the fire spread to brush near I-90, but the fire is under control.
Police and fire departments from Rocky River, Westlake, Bay Village, and Lakewood responded to the emergency. There are no reports of injuries.
