Cleveland Landlords, Tell Us What You Think Of The Lead Paint Ordinance

A residential street in Cleveland. [Nick Castele / ideastream]
A residential street in Cleveland.

Who are Cleveland’s landlords, and what do they think of the city’s proposed lead paint law?

The ordinance before city council would require owners of rental property built before 1978 to certify that their units are safe from lead paint.

Ideastream and The Plain Dealer want to hear from the landlords who would have to comply with those new rules. Have you ever had your properties tested for lead paint? Do you need financial help making them safe? What do you want city officials and residents to know about how you maintain rentals?

We also want to learn more about who owns Cleveland’s roughly 100,000 rental units. Do properties belong mostly to smaller, independent landlords, or to large companies?

Over the coming weeks, we hope to talk with property owners about the lead legislation. We’ll share that reporting with the community in stories on our platforms.

If you own rental property within the city limits, send us your thoughts through this online survey You can also reach the reporters directly by email:
