Budget To Be Unveiled

Last week Kasich announced he wants to eliminate income taxes for many small businesses, double the income tax exemption for low income Ohioans and make many more of them eligible for subsidized child care. To pay for that - likely he'll try a package of tax hikes. Here's what he said in November about his repeated attempts to increase the tax on oil and gas drillers.

"As John Paul Jones says, I have not yet begun to fight. But we can't let these companies take our valuable stuff out of this state and not pay for it."

Kasich has also said lobbyists kept down a previous tobacco tax increase, so it's expected he'll try that again too, along with a broadening of the state sales tax to certain services.
