5 Virtual Arts Experiences From Northeast Ohio Artists And Institutions

Cleveland Cinemas is offering the documentary about the late U.S. congressman "John Lewis: Good Trouble"  [Magnolia Pictures]

While you can't go to air-conditioned movie theaters or auditoriums at the moment here are five virtual arts events to enjoy from the comfort of your (hopefully) air-conditioned home.

Cleveland Cinemas

The late U.S. Congressman John Lewis is the subject of the documentary, "John Lewis: Good Trouble," detailing his influential work during the civil rights movement. Cleveland Cinemas has the film about Lewis, also an Anisfield-Wolf Book Award winner, available in its virtual screening room.

Mahall's 20 Lanes

The Lakewood bowling alley and music venue Mahall's created a new virtual conversation series,  "The Platform." Friday, July 24, at 8 p.m., area musicians Osi Okoro of the band "Teamonade" and Cathalyn from "The Katy" discuss representation, inspiration and responsibility.

Cleveland Public Theatre

CPT virtually stages artistic director Raymond Bobgan's new experimental work "Dragon Hypothesis" Friday, July 24, and Saturday July 25, at 8 p.m. Bobgan and the CORE Ensemble virtually share this work-in-progress storytelling project through movement and song.

DANCECleveland

After canceling its live summer dance festival, DANCECleveland created the virtual festival "Dance On!" Beginning Saturday, July 25, the virtual summer dance festival includes dance classes for all levels, four dance performances and discussions with various company artistic directors.

Cleveland Opera Theater

A reimagined adaptation of Rossini's classic "The Barber of Seville" as a mini-series is virtually staged by Cleveland Opera Theater beginning this weekend. Episode 1 premieres Saturday, July 25, at 7 p.m., with four subsequent episodes screening August 1, 8, 15 and 30.
