Cleveland's Heart Care Pioneers

Defibrillator panels. Heart by-pass surgery.  Dye tests to help doctors see blockages. These are standard critical tools used to save the lives of heart patients. Those devices and procedures were all either discovered or perfected here in Cleveland through the work of pioneering doctors. These medical advances put the city's hospitals on the map and spurred a surge in medical development that is still ongoing.

For additional information on caring for your heart, visit our Be Well Heart Health section of the ideastream web site for extensive reporting by the Health Unit.
