Inspiring Veteran

BACK IN AMERICA, WE ARE CELEBRATING VETERANS DAY, WHICH LANDS ON NOVEMBER 11TH.

IT’S A DAY TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED IN THE MILITARY - LIKE ROB JONES.  DURING HIS TIME AS A U-S MARINE, JONES LOST BOTH OF HIS LEGS IN THE LINE OF DUTY. BUT IT IS SOMETHING HE IS USING TO ENCOURAGE OTHER VETERANS.

JACKIE LABRECQUE HAS HIS INSPIRING STORY.

Jackie: ON PORTLAND'S WATERFRONT... REMARKABLE OCTOBER WEATHER - JUST IN TIME FOR A VISIT FROM A REMARKABLE RUNNER.  ROB JONES IS RUNNING 26-POINT-TWO MILES, AND STOPS FOR A QUICK REST.

Rob Jones: "I'm feeling good, yeah. I mean I've got the soreness you'd expect from this much running, but hanging in there."

Jackie: PORTLAND'S MID-WAY THROUGH HIS JOURNEY TO RUN 31 MARATHONS IN 31 CITIES IN 31 DAYS.

Rob Jones: "No level of soreness is as important as my veteran brothers that I'm doing this for, so I'm just going to have to put up with it."

Jackie: THE MARINE WAS WOUNDED BY A ROADSIDE BOMB IN 2010 - LOSING BOTH LEGS ABOVE THE KNEE.  HE'S TRYING TO INSPIRE FELLOW WOUNDED TROOPS WHO MAY BE FEELING BROKEN - PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY.

Rob Jones: "I'm trying to be an example of a guy that had a traumatic experience in Afghanistan and came back and was still able to get back on his feet and find a way of contributing and staying in the fight."

Jackie: HE'S ALSO RAISING MONEY FOR CHARITIES THAT HELP VETERANS. ROB'S A PARALYMPIC BRONZE MEDALIST AND HE'S ALREADY CYCLED ACROSS AMERICA, TOO.

Josh Brooks / Marine: "He's really inspiring. He just has not quit."

Jackie: JOSH BROOKS SERVED ALONGSIDE ROB IN COMBAT, AND CAME HERE FROM BOISE TO SUPPORT HIS FRIEND.

Josh Brooks / Marine: "He's always been a hard charger, so I don't know if he ever really missed a beat from the injury."

Pam Jones / Jones' Wife: "For him to do something that's so hard and puts himself like totally out of his comfort zone but for the benefit of others is just completely who he is and why I love him so much."

Jackie: HIS WIFE PAM AND HIS MOM ARE ALONGSIDE HIM ON THIS JOURNEY... ALONG WITH PERFECT STRANGERS...

Rob Jones: "It just goes to prove that Americans love veterans, they're out here to support me, but in reality they're supporting all veterans."

Jackie: ROB JONES JOURNEY ENDS IN NOVEMBER IN WASHINGTON DC - HIS FINAL MARATHON ON A REMARKABLE DAY, VETERANS DAY.
