The Remaking of a Middle Neighborhood

Located about five miles southwest of downtown Cleveland, the Old Brooklyn neighborhood is home to more than 30,000 residents. Nestled within its borders are notable neighborhood landmarks, like the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo -- and Ben Franklin Community Garden, the largest of its kind in Cuyahoga County.

But the neighborhood, which describes itself as a place where people and businesses come to grow -- is also home to numerous small businesses. Coffee Coffee Coffee, a hybrid coffee and bike shop, recently opened on Pearl Road. We visit the café to hear why the owners chose to settle in Old Brooklyn. Then, ideastream’s Rick Jackson speaks with Jeff Verespej, executive director of the Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation to hear what other developments are on the horizon.
