A new study shows there's a need for more community mental health services in Ohio. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, Susan Ackerman with the Center for Community Solutions says the report shows the need for services is growing.
Ackerman says state funding cuts have causes a decrease in mental health services not reimbursed by Medicaid. It also fund the number of children using Medicaid's behavioral health services in Ohio is increasing. Ackerman says the most cost effective way for the state to treat mental illnesses is through community based treatment....the very place where state dollars are falling short of meeting the needs.
