Son of Legendary Golfer Charles Sifford Accused of Secretly Siphoning Over $1 Million From His Father

Charles Sifford was 92 when he received the Medal of Freedom

The son of Northeast Ohio golfing legend Charles Sifford was indicted Tuesday for siphoning over a million dollars from his father.

Ohio law enforcement officials claim that, over several years, Craig Sifford and his ex-wife Sandra took the money from the elder Sifford and spent it on such things as travel, dining and clothing.  Between the two of them, they were indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury for theft, money laundering and receiving stolen property

Charlie Sifford received the Presidential Medal of Freedom last year for being the first person of color to compete in professional golf, after the PGA dropped its "Caucasians Only" membership policy in 1961.

Sifford went on to win fame and fortune on the links and was cited as a role model by golf pro Tiger Woods. Charlie Sifford died in February of this year.
