Sanders Makes Stops in Ohio to Speak Against Republicans' Tax Reform Package

U-S Sen. and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) made two stops in Ohio over the weekend to speak against the Republican tax cut package that is swiftly gaining ground on Capital Hill.   The Senate passed the measure along party lines early Saturday.

"GOP, we're coming for those seats!," former Ohio Sen. Nina Turner said to an enthusiastic crowd in downtown Akron Saturday night before Sen. Bernie Sanders took the stage. That followed another joint appearance in Dayton and a livestream address by Sanders to a crowd in Louisville, Kentucky.

President Trump has said he would like to sign the Republican tax plan into law before Christmas. Sanders called for opponents of the bill to have a sense of urgency over the coming weeks.

“And to make sure that every member of Congress, Sen. Portman and everybody else, who voted for that legislation is held accountable," said Sanders, to cheers from the crowd.

Sanders also repeated familiar points on healthcare and the wealth gap, and accused President Trump of going back on campaign promises.
