Operating revenue at MetroHealth increased by $70 million dollars last year and a new Cleveland public high school for science and health opened inside the hospital system in the fall. But the focus of the annual meeting was the new Metro campus.
The $855 million project will involve a new parking garage and building.
Though President Trump’s proposed federal budget includes $800 billion cuts to Medicaid, MetroHealth officials say any potential changes in federal healthcare won’t impact the new hospital and transformation.
MetroHealth’s Tracy Carter says the hospital will continue providing healthcare to people whose insurance status may be uncertain.
"We’ll be looking at how much will be devoted to Medicaid spending, the benefit design, and the provider coverage," Carter said. "Any changes in those areas, we would take a look at and do our part to make sure our own patients are aware of the changes and help them understand what options are available to receive ongoing care with our system."
The new MetroHealth building is slated to open in 2022.
