Marcia Fudge Endorses Frank Jackson

Congresswoman Marcia Fudge endorsed Frank Jackson for a fourth term as Cleveland's mayor Tuesday, giving the incumbant a big-name endorsement just six weeks from primary day.

Fudge, whose district includes most of Cleveland, praised Jackson's "steady leadership" and emphasized his three terms of experience.

"It takes a lot to run something because you never please everybody," Fudge said. "Having been a mayor, I know that well. I know what it takes, and he has what it takes."

Fudge credited Jackson with a "renaissance" in Cleveland, citing last summer's Republican National Convention as an example of the city's recent uptick in development. But Jackson said the city's newfound wealth has not been enjoyed equitably.

"We are a very successful city, but we are not a great city," Jackson said, adding that more of Cleveland needs to share in the city's success. "And that is my fourth term, to ensure that."
