A Tea Party leader has launched a bid to be the next leader of Ohio’s Republican Party. Tom Zawistowski wants to take over for Chairman Bob Bennett, who is retiring soon. But most people in statewide offices have already endorsed Matt Borges the party’s executive director, for the job.

That includes State Treasurer Josh Mandel -- a man who is normally thought to be one of the more conservative members of the party. Mandel says he thinks Borges should get the job.

MANDEL: "I believe we need outside-the-box thinking, and folks who have an openness to leveraging technology to win elections and advance the conservative philosophy."

Mandel signed on to a letter last month supporting Borges with other statewide office holders, including Republican Gov. John Kasich.
