Former Republican State Lawmaker Backs Redistricting Proposal

She says the proposal would allow a board made up of ordinary people, not politicians, to draw the lines for congressional and legislative districts. She says the current system allows politicians to pick their voters instead of the other way around.

"It is rigged and you all know it," she said. "Everyone in this room knows it. The system is rigged to benefit the party in power. And the party in power is struggling to stay in power. And it would do that whether it's the Republicans or the Democrats."

The latest Ohio Newspaper Poll shows 48 percent of Ohioans say they’ll vote against the proposed change for the redistricting process. Twenty-five percent say they’ll vote for it and 27 percent say they aren’t sure how they’ll vote on the issue.
