Former House Speaker Has High Praise For Kasich

Governor John Kasich could run for president someday, according to the man who was the Speaker of the House when Kasich was in Congress. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich was in Columbus today, and had hoped to meet with Kasich, but his plane ran into weather problems. Gingrich had campaigned for Kasich when he was running for governor last year. Gingrich is weighing a presidential campaign himself, and says he would not be at all surprised to see Kasich on a national ticket. But Gingrich says Kasich likely wouldn’t be a vice presidential candidate, because he says Kasich has “the ability to run for president at some point.”

Gingrich was in Columbus for a panel discussion on the future development of ethanol in Ohio and across the US, which he supports.
