Volunteers have tried for weeks to ship hundreds of pallets of goods to Puerto Rico. Now they have a way.

Feeding America, a national network of food banks, has offered to haul the supplies from the IX Center to the devastated island, according to a news release from MetroHealth medical center.

“There is a group locally here that has collected a lot of product,” said Karen Pozna with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Feeding America’s local affiliate. She confirmed the group’s plans to take the donations to Puerto Rico.

Several MetroHealth employees were among those who collected food, water, toiletries and other supplies for people recovering from Hurricane Maria.

The supplies will be loaded onto trucks at the IX Center on Monday, according to the release.
