An Ohio Senate committee has approved changes to a bill aimed at regulating exotic animals. The bill’s sponsor, Republican Senator Troy Balderson, says there are several changes.
Balderson says constricting snakes less than 12 feet long are exempt from the new exotic animal bill. Despite the changes, there are still owners of exotic animals who protest the bill because they think it would endanger animals or put too much burden on the backs of small business owners. Some of the opponents are threatening to sue if the bill passes the Ohio legislature.
