Destination Akron Introduces New Hires to City Neighborhoods

This month, Leadership Akron launched a new effort to attract and retain talent in the city.  Destination Akron is a six-month pilot program that will work with employers to give their recruits an insider’s look at the Akron area.

Kyle Kutuchief is with the Knight Foundation, which is funding the effort.

“Oftentimes the recruitment process focuses on the hours of 8 am to 6 pm. And whether you choose to take the job may have to do with the whole rest of the week.  Where’s my family going to live?  What’s the quality of life here?  What’re the amenities?  And we want to help local employers land more talent.”

Speaking on 90.3’s the Sound of Ideas, Kutuchief says by introducing prospective and new hires to the life of the city and its different neighborhoods, they might choose to live in the city or be involved civically.
