Veterans in Cuyahoga County are now able to receive a special 20 percent discount when buying a home, or lease a house to eventually own it -- all through the Cuyahoga County Land Bank.

That's the thrust of a new program announced Tuesday called HomeFront-Cuyahoga County.

Council Member Sonny Simon says it's one more effort geared at helping communities recover from the housing crisis.

"It's a win-win situation for the community as well, because it helps rehouse their neighborhoods and make them vibrant," Simon said.

Council is putting $100,000 toward the program over the next two years, budgeted from unused funds from the county Veterans Service Commission. The Land Bank is matching that grant.
